Hulk Annual 1968 #1 – My, how this has become one of “thee” covers to make a homage out of. What does that do to the original book’s value? One word, four letters… Rise!
Avengers Annual 1981 #10 – Rogue! She makes her first appearance here. Fond memories of her in X-Men The Animated Series from the early to mid 1990’s cartoon series. What a great show. As you can see from the image below, there is both a regular and newsstand version to this book. Also worth noting that this book contains the first appearance of Madelyne Pryor.
Ms Marvel 1978 #16 – Mystigue! She first appears in this book! While heat for her has died down a bit, it’s hard to imagine her not being in Disney’s plans for 2019 and beyond, especially when you consider she has already had success on the big screen across several X-Men films.
Amazing Spider-man Super Special Planet of the Symbiotes 1995 #1 – Wow has this book been hot! Why? It tells the origin of the symbiote race in this 64-page flip book! The story: “When an alien menace threatens Earth, Spidey and Venom know their only hope lies in one place: the planet that spawned the symbiotes! This sizzling 5-book story arc (continued in the Spider-Man, Venom, Spectacular Spider-Man and Web of Spider-Man Super Specials) finally reveals the secrets behind the origin and the powers of the symbiotes!”

Hellboy Mania!
Musings 1994 #4 by Calliope Comics. Not an easy find.
The rest of the Hellboy books are from Dark Horse Comics…
Hellboy Box Full of Evil 1999 #1 – Featuring the first appearance of Lobster Johnson, a fan favorite! The story: “A mysterious robbery in an ancient English mansion sets Hellboy and Abe Sapien on the trail of a saint, a warlock, a demon, an arch duke of Hell, and a gun-wielding monkey. The crown of the Beast of the Apocalypse becomes the main prize in a tale perfectly balancing action and occult suspense.”
Hellboy The Wild Hunt 2008-2009 #2 – Lots of hype around this book. Why? The Queen of Blood makes her debut in this book. She will be featured in the new Hellboy movie. Cover by the talented Mike Mignola.
Hellboy The Fury 2011 #1 Variant Cover by Francesco Francavilla – Synopsis: “War ensues between the forces of good and evil as Hellboy finally confronts the Queen of Blood one on one, setting the stage for a new chapter in Hellboy’s life!”
Hellboy in Mexico 2010 #1 Variant Cover by Mike Mignola. This book has always been a tough find. Story: “Hellboy caravans across Mexico with a trio of vampire-killing luchadores, finding the undead; evil turkeys; a terrible bat god; and a little too much tequila.”

Just one in today. Spawn!
Spawn 2012 #220 1:50 Black & White Incentive … CGC 9.8! – About 600 of these made. While there are a few 1:25 B&W variant homage covers for issues in the #220’s to 230’s, we like this one for it’s Youngblood tribute, and also for it being a bit more rare (less printed at it is a 1:50 ratio.)
We are always looking for Spawn books with print runs on the smaller side. Newsstand editions of the earlier issues and lots of issues in the high 100’s and early 200’s. I’d be willing to bet the higher 200’s being printed now and over the past 2-3 years will rise in value. Mattina has been making these brilliant covers. That, and the movie McFarlane has been talking about making with Jamie Foxx starring could place and keep Spawn in the limelight.
It amazes me how low of print runs Spawn books have. Do people think there is a higher amount being printed? Are books losing favor compared to digital “print”? Topics for another discussion, another day. But there is no denying the need for most to collect something. At the very least with so many knockout covers of late for not only Spawn books but so many others, that these are being looked at as art pieces, in addition to investments.

Valiant! Valiant books may be down and looked over now, but if that changes, it won’t be an easy task acquiring incentives. We’re always grabbing 1:20’s, 1:50’s, 1:60’s and 1:100’s. There are so few printed. The majority of 1:20’s alone (minus #1 issues for the most part) are close to 500 printed, if that!
